Is it really that important?

YES!!!

If you are serious about being successful with your online marketing business, having and growing your email list is priority one.
When we look at our online business as a whole, our list is really the only part we truly have control of. It’s ours, we own it and we are not giving it back.
Your list is your customer base. It is the foundation of your business and the greatest source of generating income.
 
The 2 biggest points of managing your list, is getting new subscribers to your list and building a relationship with those on your list. These would be your OFFER and your AUTORESPONDER
 
Email Marketing Service – an email service, or autoresponder offers you the tools to get and maintain subscribers, create exciting campaigns and manage content such as follow ups, messages and blog posts. This is the #1 tool for building the ever important. Know, Like and Trust.
Building that relationship with your subscribers is what makes a successful online business.

There are many autoresponders on the market at many different price points.
AWeber, Get Response, Mail Chimp, Traffic Wave and Constant Contact are some of the more popular sites out there. I get great service and results with Get Response, but take a look at what is out there and decide what best suits your needs. Many sites are offering a 30 day trail with no obligation.
There are some very good "starter" autoresponders out there such as Build-A-Biz Online that can get you set up for a reasonable price.
I would avoid free sites, as reliability is so important when it comes to building that Know, Like and Trust relationship.
 
The Offer – Before people hand over their email address, you’re going to have to offer them something enticing in exchange. This could be a free eBook, access to a Webinar, a Free to Join site, or an offer exclusively for your subscribers. Whatever you decide to offer, just make sure it’s something your subscriber will recognize as holding value!
 
These are two good starting points for starting and maintaining your list. The effort you put into building your email list is one of the best investments you can make. Having access to your subscribers means you can continue to build and nurture relationships over time, and become a trusted source of value. Know, Like and Trust. The golden rule :)
